I have been running at a non-professional and non-elite level since 2021. I don't use the term amateur directly. For me, no one is an amateur who has already started a little bit towards conscious (more) sports. I started on this path after my first successful 2 kilometers. When I do something, I like to get the most out of it. I immediately started digging into how I can run more, how I can run faster. What is the right sports clothing, what kind of regeneration routine is necessary to stay injury-free. What kind of diet can best support my running goals.
I dug into the mysteries of running until I finally became a certified running coach. By the time I got to the training, a significant part of the curriculum was already familiar to me. But I still gained a lot of extra knowledge. The most important thing is that you can't get stuck on the basics of athletics that are 30-40 years old. But not even on the "new things" that are 5-10 years old. The human body may be slower, but everything else changes and develops at an alarmingly fast rate. As a successful runner and coach, you have to be up-to-date. There is a hundred times more data available than a few decades ago. We receive daily information about data from our watches on our wrists that we hadn't even heard of a few years ago. And if we are clever, we can use all of this to our advantage.
