A lifelong athlete, I have competed at the highest level in ultra running, having represented my country at the World 100km Championships. I have also represented Scotland over the same distance 6 times (to date) and have many road and off road race podium places under my belt. I've competed in distances from 1 mile to 100km, trail ultras, mountain ultras and everything in between. I bring all that experience to my coaching. I have a passion for getting the best out of my athletes as well as keeping an eye on longevity. Goals are important, but the journey is way more significant.
I've learned over the years that coaching is an indivudal application. There are no magic bullets, no one size fits all coaching philosophy and I've immersed myself in many coaching principles such as Lydiard, Horwill, Coe, Canova, Daniels, John Walsh, David Roache, Ian Sharman and of course Paul Giblin. Coaching isn't all about the sessions or the volume of miles per week: It's a full package, it's about building relationships consisting of trust, transparency, accountability, honest communication and friendship. If this doesn't sound like your coach, then you should consider a change.
