10+ years
I have always been a runner, and have progressed into ultra running from cross country and track as child/teenager, into road running at university and into my 20s and 30s. I have raced as an elite at the Great Run series and London marathon and competed as an England masters athlete over the marathon distance. Despite enjoying the faster paced running on the roads, my heart will always be with trail running, coast paths and the mountains. I have a background in science, so bring that mindset to my coaching and my running, and always have the bigger picture approach to life overall.
A running coach isn't just someone who sets a training plan for an athlete to follow. My coaching is a lifestyle, its about fitting training into a life, not a life around a training plan. Flexibility and a holistic philosophy are key to an athlete achieving the training each week, but also progressing and enjoying the journey. We focus on the bigger picture, not the instant gratification and short term personal bests. As a coach I encourage strong communication, confidence development, consistency and gently nudge athletes towards accountability. We build a relationship over time, which gently forges progressive and adaptive change, and in turn may produce results.
