Sofie Schunk—Founder of Embrace The Grind, Running & Strength Coach, National Laboratory Engineer, and Diabetes Sports Project Director. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 16, she mastered endurance and performance, playing NCAA D1 soccer at Marquette (goalkeeper) winning 3 Big East titles, and a MS Biomedical Engineering. Co-founded DSP to empower diabetic athletes. Transitioned to elite running, winning back-to-back Carlsbad 5000 titles, running 1:16 in the half marathon, and qualifying for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials with a 2:36—becoming the 3rd-ever T1D to achieve this milestone.
