About Tim

I am a seasoned (62 y.o.) elite amateur endurance athlete, having raced Kona Ironman Championships twice (2016, 2017), many marathons, and shorter road races, and ultramarathons up to 100 miles. For the 2022 USATF season, I ran with the Boulder Road Runners masters team and placed second in the USATF Masters National Grand Prix competition in the 60-64 male age group. Running and Ultrarunning Coaching is my second career, after working in academic medical imaging for 35+ years. My coaching training includes national board certification in health and wellness coaching.

Coaching Philosophy

I want to build a relationship with each athlete to first help them understand their unique motivations, strengths, aspirations, and areas for improvement. My philosophy ties into my training in health and wellness coaching that sustainable positive change is ultimately inspired and controlled by the athlete and not the coach. The role of the coach is to come alongside the athlete to assist in the development of a positive mindset and actionable training plan that best matches the athlete's level of fitness and experience in the sport, personality, time-constraints, and specific goal races or adventures. I am particularly focused on helping the athlete to practice preventative maintenance exercises and body mindfulness to minimize avoidable (but often inevitable) running injuries and troubleshooting situations when they arise.
