I'm a former average basketball player who was told he was a "Clydesdale" when running my first marathon in 2001, I found trail running while training for obstacle course races. Trail running has become a passion, leading me to start the Big Ass Runner Trail Running Podcast in 2020. I've had the pleasure of learning tons in the last 2 1/2 years - from listeners (who we call the Big Ass Runner Herd), to coaching and nutritional experts, mental health and physical therapy experts, race directors and elite athletes. I take all that and pour it into my coaching to benefit the athletes I serve.
My expertise is the everyday runner - maybe hitting the trails for the first time, or trying to get a little better and hit a PR distance or time. I prioritize relationships because I believe in the value of people over programs, and fun is a key element to my programming. I believe in consistency and if we're not having fun and being encouraged along the way, training can become a burden rather than a joy. I believe getting 1% better everyday leads to results you didn't know were possible. I believe in customizing a plan to my athlete based on their needs, strengths, likes, and preferences--one size does not fit all. I believe in setting big, audacious goals and going after them. I believe adaptation happens through hard training and proper recovery. I believe in getting to the starting line healthy, prepared, and confident, and getting to the finish line with a big smile.
