0-1 year
Having dealt with chronic pain for over 40 years, I moved from High School track and field to a liesure walker/runner until one day I had a doctor tell me that there was nothing he could do to fix my pain. I was 48. At that point, I decided to take back my life. I got off the sofa, loaded the 0-5K app on my phone. I finished that, and went to the 0-10K, 0-21K, and ran my first half marathon when I was 50. I ran my first marathon (and last road marathon in Vancouver BC, it was absolutely beautiful) on my 53rd birthday! Since then, I have completed 2 50K's, 40 Miler, and 3 12-hour races.
My coaching philosophy comes from years of coaching my number one client! Me!
First, there is the WHY! Why do you want to take on this race, or goal?
Next, we organize, we look at what we have, where we are, and then what is the process (or process measures) that will get us where we want to go. We look at the aging process, what is happening, what can we turn around, what do we need to deal with.
No journey requiring physical and mental toughness will be complete with mediocre nutrition and recovery, so this will be a strong factor in moving forward.
Trust! Trust me as the coach, and trust the program will get you there, and then come the taper... trust the process!
Finally!
Allow proper recovery! You worked hard, you have demanded much from yourself, now let it rest, feed it, let it sleep, and do some fun active recovery. In a few weeks, we'll talk about the next goal!
