As a high-performing age-group athlete myself who's been working full-time and training for triathlon for years now, I understand the importance of work/sport/life balance. Over the years I've managed to consistently improve and qualified for world championships, among which Kona. This durable approach still proves to be working for me, as I continue to improve. My personal goal is to qualify for Kona again and to race for a high ranking there. Although long distance triathlons are my favourite, I'm also racing short distance races, because it's just so much fun too!
There are no durable quick wins in endurance training. Endurance training should be a long-term approach. Not hero sessions, but consistent training over a longer period of time will yields durable results.
Building consistent training, having clear expectations and transparent communication are key.
As you can read in the 'About Me' section, I know the challenges in terms of work/sport/life balance. Becoming a good or even great triathlete does not mean (or better, can not mean) that everything else in your life should suffer. A personal, durable approach is what yields the best results. Not crazy training weeks, but consistent, balanced training weeks yield great long term results. Find that balance, find your best.
