About Lauren

Although I've spent most of my adult life in Shanghai, China, I am originally from the US. During my time overseas, running has been a staple, not just for many mental and physical benefits, but also as a way to see many parts of the world. I've also competed in events across Asia, including many competitions where I've placed in the top three to include an Ironman relay (I was the runner). I have a background in Functional Training, which allows me to incorporate some movement/strength knowledge into my coaching. I am a lululemon run ambassador and lead multiple run communities in Shanghai.

Coaching Philosophy

I truly believe running can - and should - be fun. There are of course times when you don't feel like doing the work, it's hard, the weather isn't ideal... but for the average runner, I also want to spark joy through running. Whether it's to de-stress or find creativity, meet new friends or find a new challenge, there are many benefits to running - it's just about finding how you and running fit together. Everyone is different and it's learning about those differences, your goals and how we can tie everything together to find what works best and motivates you (even if it's just coffee & bagels after!). I do believe in strength training, especially for injury-prevention, and can incorporate elements of this into my training. I'm currently trying to learn more about training for women, specifically how it can be manageable during, and even help, the transition into and through menopause.
