I'm a Scotsman living in Alberta, Canada. I've competed in 50k up to the Backyard Ultra distance and definitely enjoy longer distances. I've coached several friends over the years and recently decided to become a certified ultra coach. I enjoyed the certification and found it helpful for my own training and in developing and implementing training plans for other athletes.

My coaching philosophy is based on my own training and improvement. I like to see athletes develop a strong aerobic base before progressing into faster running. Rather than relying on my past race success I like to think about coaching as a constant, evolving process that requires active listening and learning how the athlete responds to the feedback and training stimuli.
