About Adam

I’m a mountain endurance athlete who started running at age 10 and competing in triathlons at 16. As a USAT All-American triathlete during the 1990s, I competed in the ITU World Triathlon Championships, the ITU World Duathlon Championships, and the Ironman World Championships. As a masters runner, I won a series title in the XTERRA SoCal Trail Run Series. My current pursuits include mountain running, ultrarunning, skimo, and cross-country skiing. I started coaching in college and enjoy passing on the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years to both new and experienced athletes.

Coaching Philosophy

I view endurance sports as a vehicle for discovery and personal growth and I enjoy working with runners and mountain endurance athletes pursuing challenges that resonate with your own interests.

The coaching process starts with where you’re currently at to devise a training program with both your background and end goals in mind. As a coach, my role is to help you train with a purpose, putting together a series of workouts on a weekly basis that fit into your overall progression toward your goals.

Along the way, I look to develop a working partnership with you so we can make adjustments and deal with life’s surprises in a way that helps set you up for success. Tracking your training and subjective comments in TrainingPeaks, along with frequent communication, are all key to developing that partnership as we implement your training program.
