I started running in 2010 when I signed up for my first half marathon. Admittedly, I didn't know what I was doing when I first started running. I made every rookie mistake and had a sore body the next morning to prove it. Over the years I learned, through trial and error, the mechanics and skills to run smarter and really enjoy the sport. I'm a teacher by nature so it was only a matter of time before I started teaching others what I'd learned. As a certified running coach, I now teach new runners everything I wish I knew to help me train for that first race.
Everyone is different, with varying levels of experience and specific goals. That's how I coach - focusing on the individual and their needs. There are no two plans alike. I also focus on strength training and injury prevention to help each runner reach their potential and goals safely.
While running can be very competitive, I approach it from a more holistic approach. Running isn't just about hitting the pavement and logging miles, it's about honoring your potential. The mental, physical and emotional benefits gained from running can greatly improve your overall wellbeing, but it's important to have a healthy relationship with fitness and nutrition first. Starting a new training plan can be intimidating and overwhelming. I'll guide you gradually and safely to cross the finish line at your next marathon or your first 5k.
