I am a longtime amateur runner and triathlete, though I started later in life. I am always looking to find out what my body can do. As a retired software engineer, I have always found opportunities to share my knowledge and experiences with others, in both formal and informal ways. I have helped many people, including my own children, become lifelong athletes, runners, and triathletes. I believe I can help you too.
My coaching philosophy centers around five pillars:
- Consistency: Progress comes, not from a single all-important workout, but from incremental improvement over time.
- Purpose Driven: Whether running, cross training, weight training, or resting, each activity (easy run, workout, cross-train, rest) has a specific purpose.
- Focus on You: Your training plan is unique to your goals and your fitness level. Focus on your goals and reason to run. Avoid the comparison trap. Trust the process.
- Succeed or Learn: Failure is your best teacher. You never succeed at anything you haven't tried. And yet, if you never fail, you're probably not trying hard enough.
- Data First: The most effective training will be based on scientifically tested methods and your measured response to training.
