About FORREST

I live in Montana where I spend my free time exploring the mountains on and off trail. I'm a sucker for an intriguing map or a mountain with a cool name. After running in HS, college, and a bit on the roads after, I've since focused my personal running exclusive on trails where I am happiest. I've been lucky enough to have wonderful coaches in my running career who inspired me to pursue coaching as well. I love working with athletes as a team to reach individual goals. Through coaching I get to be a part of a wonderful journey over and over again.

Coaching Philosophy

Every athlete is unique and I approach my coaching that way. Yes, training plans can largely be based on science, but the nuances required of a good plan, and good coach-athlete relationship require excellent communication and individualization. That's why I work hard to understand my athlete's lives, goals, history, and ever evolving relationship with running.

I want my athletes to reach their goals, but I'd rather have an athlete still enjoy running in 5+ years than to push too hard for an impending race only to completely burn out or develop a long term injury. I'm a fan of taking the long approach. Yes, we'll still work hard for goals now, but not at the expense of your health or love of running.

I'm a big fan of incorporating strength training, especially as the races get longer or more mountainous. I build strength plans based on what equipment athletes have access to.
