About Hilary

I started running competitively at age 12, racing road and trail distances throughout life in NYC. I earned multiple Boston qualifiers before embracing trail ultramarathons. After leaving my tenured professor of art position in 2021, I moved to NM to focus on running, coaching, art, and adventure. I love everything from 5Ks to 24-hour races, thrive on competition, and take a steady, mindful approach to life, creativity, and long-term growth and education.

Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that slow and steady truly wins the race. In a world obsessed with quick fixes and fast gains, I prioritize sustainable progress, helping athletes build long‑term fitness, strength, and resilience without sacrificing their health or joy in running. I see endurance coaching as both an art and a science — one where individualized training, recovery, communication, and consistency are paramount. I blend evidence‑based programming with empathy, teaching skills that empower athletes to understand their bodies and training, not just follow a plan. Like the tortoise, we focus on steady, mindful effort — respecting process over pace, listening to feedback, and avoiding burnout and injury. Running is a lifelong journey, and my role as a coach is to help you cultivate growth that endures across seasons, distances, and life changes.
