About Stacey

In 2015, I hit a breaking point after years of working unpredictable hours while running ultra-distances up to and over 100 miles. I learned that grit alone isn’t enough to sustain health or performance. That realization reshaped how I approach training, recovery, and resilience. Today, I’m deeply grounded in strength training, rebuilding athletic capacity, and continuing my own intentional return toward ultra-distance running. Joy Before Fear grew from this work—not as a comeback story, but as a clear commitment to training that supports durability, agency, and quality of life.

Coaching Philosophy

The Joy Before Fear coaching approach is grounded in a health-first foundation. Onboarding starts with a mobility screening and health coaching assessment to ensure programming reflects the athlete’s current capacity for training. Plans are individualized, science-based, and designed to evolve as bodies, seasons, and life circumstances change. Strength training is part of the framework because of its role in building resilience, supporting injury prevention, and promoting long-term health and longevity as a runner. If injury, illness, or other circumstances arise, the focus can shift toward health coaching or more strength-focused work so support continues. Training plans are flexible, with regular check-ins through app-based communication and brief weekly calls included. The goal is sustainable progress that supports performance, enjoyment, and quality of life.
