I found running when I was a freshman in college. It was the first time in my life I wasn't playing any sort of organized team sports and was looking for a way to exercise. The rest is history. I've had ups and downs with the sport over the years - some years I was more dedicated than others but I really fell in love during the pandemic. Exercise was one of the few reprieves during this time so I looked forward to it. I also started to really get interested in the science behind running at this point and wanted to learn as much as possible so I decided to pursue my coaching certification.
I believe running should be an inclusive sport. It doesn't matter if you are fast, if you run far, or if you look like a Runner's World cover model. What matters is that you show up and you put one foot in front of the other. I strongly believe in the important of rest and recovery and balancing life with running. We should run because we want to and like to, not because we feel like we have to.
