About Jeff

I spent over a decade in cybersecurity leadership before earning my UESCA Ultrarunning Coach certification. That background shapes how I coach: I build training plans the way I'd build a security program — assess the real risk, prioritize what matters, and adjust as conditions change. I'm active in the Phoenix/Arizona trail running community with ties to the Aravaipa race circuit, and I'm currently training for the Javelina Jundred 100-miler myself — chasing redemption after a DNF at mile 73 last year. I know what it's like to fall short and come back stronger.

Coaching Philosophy

Ultrarunning is about building the physical, mental, and logistical systems that get you to the finish line intact. My belief goes back nearly 30 years, to when I coached children and Special Olympics athletes and learned that no two people move through the world the same way. No flat, cookie-cutter plan holds up across different bodies, schedules, and goals every runner needs a plan built around who they actually are. My coaching draws on a career in risk management. Every training block starts by identifying what could actually derail your race overtraining, poor fueling, weak mental preparation, an untested gear setup and building safeguards before those risks become race-day failures. It's the same discipline I used assessing threats professionally, applied to getting you to the finish line healthy.
Communication matters as a professional speaker, I make sure you understand the why.
