Growing up I was a figure skater and the longest my endurance could tolerate was 2 minutes! However I decided my body was resilient and put my mind to training for my first half marathon using a combination of my own fitness knowledge, lots of research and looking to professionals who were more knowledgeable. After the “runners high” wore off, I decided that I wanted to learn more to build my running and prepare me for my first marathon. My ultimate goal is to complete the Dopey challenge!
I believe that our body is resilient and meant to do hard things! Working in rehabilitation for the past 10 years, I have seen so many people being told that they are “broken” or “can’t do that” - in fact I have said that to myself many times! I never thought I could be a runner-and want to share what I have learned to help others like me!
I believe in physiological limits but believe that many times we limit ourselves - and do not like the word “can’t.”
I enjoy the preventative aspect of training as well- to build strength and decrease risk of injury.
