About Fili

I served eleven years as an infantry and operations officer, commanded four times, instructed at Ranger School, and competed in Best Ranger. The Army medically retired me as a Major in 2024, and running is how I rebuilt. In 2026 I finished the Pikes Peak Ultra, 50 miles and a little over 14 hours on the mountain.

I earned my UESCA certification because I wanted to know why training works, not just copy what happened to work for me. Day to day I run a construction company in Albuquerque. Coaching is the work I do because it gave me my legs back.

Coaching Philosophy

Easy days easy. Hard days hard. Rest days rest. Nothing in between.

Most runners I meet are not undertrained, they are unrecovered. They run the easy days too hard, which leaves nothing for the days that are supposed to hurt, then they skip rest because rest feels like quitting. I did all of it. It cost me months.

Every plan I write starts with a test, not a template. Your paces and your loads come from numbers you produced, and they climb by percentage from there. That means the plan fits a 26 minute two mile or a 13 minute one, and cycle two starts from a new baseline instead of the same chart off the internet.

I am direct. I will tell you when you are doing too much, which is more often than the reverse. Run the easy days honestly, hit the hard days with intent, take the rest day. The structure works. The work is up to you.
