About Joshua

I’m a Cincinnati-based coach with a background in exercise science & biomechanics, and I have 15+ years as a personal trainer, nutrition coach, and runner. I’ve run marathons, ultras up to 100 miles, the Grand Canyon Rim-2-Rim-2-Rim, & many solo adventure fun-runs along the Appalachian Trail. I also grew up with a serious breathing condition, so I know what it’s like to doubt your body and to prove yourself wrong. After meniscus surgery this year, I’m rebuilding my own running from run/walk, so I’m living the patience I coach. I run my personal training coaching business, Wellness with Joshua.

Coaching Philosophy

Simple beats perfect. I coach behavior first: the best plan is the one you’ll actually follow, so I build around your life, not against it. I teach the why, so you leave more capable, not more dependent. I don’t believe in restriction, quick fixes, or cookie-cutter plans. Using motivational interviewing, I ask more than I tell, because change that comes from you lasts. My framework, The Long Game, moves athletes through four phases: Foundation, Build, Performance, Sustain. We advance on competency, not the calendar. Strength work and movement quality come first, so you can stay healthy enough to chase the distance because bodies can’t be rushed. Whether it’s your first ultra or your first run back from injury, I’ll meet you where you are.
