Middle-aged man with a wider waist line, I started running after an Achilles rupture. I stayed for the enjoyment. I've run events on all terrains at distances up to 100k.
I've coached other sports historically and have a background in personal training but my goal has always been the same: look after the people who are getting overlooked in favour of the whippersnappers up front. I am overtly pro-access and will support anyone to take part in running, regardless of their athletic past or their current pace.
1. Belonging Comes First: I've been the one who hasn't fit the criteria...and then I realised they were wrong. Everyone belongs in running.
2. Pleasure Over Performance: running should be enjoyable. Simple as. That doesn't mean it isn't occasionally hard, nor does it mean every session is a winner, but overall if you aren't deriving pleasure then you're missing out.
3. Accessibility as a Principle: my whole aim is to make access easy for those who may have been denied. This means keeping it affordable, flexible and small. This means client as co-conspirator in designing our way of working. I work with you not against you and your life is the driver in the planning. I won't lock you in and I won't leave you hanging.
