I started running in my 30's and by my 40's I progressed to running ultras. I had started working in the fitness industry by then and when I repeatedly had trouble getting past mile 80 in 100 mile races I looked into adding an ultrarunning coach certification to my resume in hopes I would be able to find solutions to overcoming my own obstacles in running long distance races. Becoming a coach taught me much more than I had anticipated and I've since been able to complete distances up to 325 miles.
I take a full picture approach to coaching, I believe helping clients meet goals is about more than writing a training plan. I feel face to face communication is important and I meet with clients weekly on zoom and address nutrition, cross-training, corrective exercise and lifestyle changes necessary to keep them healthy and uninjured in the long term. Finishing the race isn't possible if we aren't healthy enough to get to the start line. My coaching is based on creating a sustainable active lifestyle. I look to work with individuals who are committed to a healthy lifestyle regardless of the distance they hope to achieve and who are interested in being part of the community that my runners and I have built. I coach runners around the country who regularly volunteer to support and pace each other if they live in the same region.
