About David

I'm not a great runner. I walked a lot of the 1500m when I was at school - it was too far to run the whole way!

I played (a lot) of sports so running seemed to make sense so that I would be able to play until I had a foot operation in 2020. Coming back from that made me appreciate what I could have so I started running more and more, first a 50k, then 100k, then 97 miles...and more to come.

I'm never going to win a race but I am constantly trying to improve, hence my UESCA certification. I am driven to help others through my coaching - will you be next?

Coaching Philosophy

It is always about the person. I need to have a deep understanding of who you are, as an athlete, what is it that influences you, what is it that has made you want to complete an ultramarathon?

In developing our relationship we will evolve the programme over time. It's not just about writing a plan (which is important) but its also about being able to work with you so that we can adapt and evolve your training so that it work with, not against your life.

I have a strong background in personal and business coaching and this integrates with my run coaching which will ensure you can navigate the balance between the epic achievement of completing an ultra and everything else that is important to you.

I know how hard this can be but I also know how powerful the sense of achievement is when you cross that finish line. It is worth it.
