About Max

I’ve run my whole life, always in tandem with playing football (soccer). I am currently attempting Asia Trail Master’s Ultra “Grandmaster Quest” while undergoing male-to-female hormonal transition, making it my biggest challenge so far.

I have coaching experience with beginner athletes running half-marathons, and I am thrilled about the prospect of helping people run even longer. I am enthusiastic to work with anyone, but I particularly enjoy building connections with people who are part of communities historically excluded from the realm of sports, like members of the LGBT+ community.

Coaching Philosophy

As a coach, my core belief is that there is an athlete in every single person. I believe that connecting with our bodies, finding joy in movement, and being proactive about our health is in our nature. However, sports today have become a commodity, and we are taught to think that only those who belong to a specific category of athlete (spoiler: those who are marketable) are the ones who can "actually" call themselves athletes.

My main goal as a coach is to make sure that regardless of who you are as a person, you know you can be an athlete too. Employing evidence-based methodologies, I seek to support athletes in their running journey and equip them to take the next step in what it holistically represents for them as people. At the heart of my approach are athlete safety and long-term sustainability, inclusivity and equity, and finding pleasure in the journey of sports.
