About Samantha

I'm a mom, runner, Nordic skier, and dog lover. In addition to my work as a running coach, I am the Program Coordinator for Maine West Project Play, a community sports organization in western Maine. My job is to build community through endurance sports. I am lucky enough to work with athletes of all ages, but I particularly enjoy working with Masters athletes. I appreciate the complexity of designing a training plan that fits into a demanding life with unique goals, training history, injury history, work demands, family obligations, and community responsibilities.

Coaching Philosophy

Consistency is the secret to making training gains. My job as a coach is to make consistency a reality. This means crafting a training plan that starts where you are right now. It means designing a training plan that fits into your life and adapts to your schedule; that considers your injury history and your cross-training preferences; your strengths and your weaknesses. It looks different for everyone.

I believe in the basics. There is no training gimmick that will beat a good night's sleep, adequate recovery, and sufficient fueling and hydration. Endurance training is a long game built around a long-term plan and making slow, steady gains. To be done well, it is a process that can't be rushed.

If you like regular communication, science-based coaching, and a coach who cares, I'd love to talk with you.
