About Beau

My running journey started in high school… but I never ran a varsity race, never broke 6 minutes in the mile nor cracked 20 minutes in the 5k. But I put in the consistency and meet after meet I beat my previous self.

I returned to road running years later in 2017 with my first half marathon and found the joy in competing against myself and the training process. After being self-coached for about 4 years, I hired one myself and saw the breakthrough. My coach inspired the philosophies below and in the past two years have set lifetime bests in every distance from the mile to the marathon.

Coaching Philosophy

#1, the best way to get the most potential out of any athlete is for them to be bought-in to the program and the training. I believe the mark of a good coach is one who can peel back the curtain and explain the “why” behind a given run, workout, strength session, and whatever else. With my athletes I strive to explain the physiology and science behind the key workouts and sessions. And in doing so, empower them to dig deep when things get hard during that tough workout or peak week.

And #2, a successful training cycle is one where the athlete can feel their improvement well before they toe their starting line. I want my athletes to feel that step-change in performance and to revel in the confidence that a run or a workout that might’ve intimidated them months prior now feels comfortable. The race at the end, therefore, is just the celebration of all that hard work.
