About The Instructor

Kelly Rose Thomas, PT, DPT, MS

Dr. Kelly Rose Thomas is a sports and pelvic floor physical therapist and an endurance coach who specializes in working with athletes through pregnancy and postpartum, extreme triathlon training and racing, and running on road and trails. With a profound expertise in optimizing athletic performance and rehabilitation, Dr. Thomas has dedicated her career to helping athletes achieve their full potential, recover from injuries, and navigate pregnancy and postpartum with comprehensive, evidence-based care. 

Since becoming a physical therapist, Kelly has worked with patients across the U.S., helping individuals with sports injuries, orthopedic issues, pelvic floor dysfunction and obstetric and post-surgical rehab.

Course Description

Working with athletes that are pregnant or postpartum requires a specialized skillset to ensure that the programming is effective and safe. In this course by physical therapist and pelvic floor specialist, Dr. Kelly Thomas, you will learn the science and application of topics related to working with pregnant and postpartum athletes.

Childbearing age is often when athletes peak in performance. Athletes don’t have to choose athletics or pregnancy!

This first portion of the course focuses on the benefits of physical activity during pregnancy for both mom and baby, physiological changes of each trimester, exercise modifications due to changing body shape, and overall wellbeing during the pregnancy chapter of life.

New mothers are often told by their OBGYN they are cleared to return to training after their 6- week postpartum check, without discussion of what activity demands they are returning to. The second portion of the course focuses on the considerations important to returning to training as an endurance athlete in the postpartum chapter of life … with postpartum being forever!

The completion of this course fulfills 50% of the UESCA recertification requirement!
