About Matthias

During my years at the Royal Military Academy, I joined the track running team and quickly found joy not only in competing but also in contributing to the team. When asked to become the team’s student representative, I didn’t hesitate for a second. After taking on professional roles within the military, I continued pushing my limits in running and I became invested in learning about physiology, psychology, nutrition, training methodologies, and performance testing. From 2023 on, I earned a spot on the Belgian National Military Running Team and served as the Team's Captain.

Coaching Philosophy

At We Are The Run, we believe running should strengthen your body, balance your life, and fuel your growth. Our coaching is built on three principles: strong foundations, seeing the runner as a whole, and adopting an improvement mindset. Just as trees need deep roots, runners need resilience and consistency to go far without breaking down. We recognize you’re more than a runner—training must fit your life, not fight it. Progress comes from the right effort at the right time: sometimes that means pushing hard, sometimes it means resting well. Whether you’re chasing your first 5K or a marathon personal best, what matters is the will to improve. Our role is to guide you on that journey: helping you run better, stay healthier, and keep enjoying the sport for years to come.
