I'm a UESCA-certified running coach in South Lake Tahoe, coaching busy everyday runners remotely to their first or next 5K, half, or full marathon. My athletes have finished London, Boston, NYC, and Columbus, and I've coached myself to 11 marathons, including four World Majors. My first marathon took over 7 hours, and I've since run multiple under 5 hours, so I know how to help runners improve at any pace! I've been coaching sports since I was 14: I won a karate National Championship while teaching, guest coached advanced ballroom dance partnerships, and taught skiing at Vail.
I believe running should be fun and give you a sense of accomplishment, and that progress and fun go hand in hand! Good training balances hard work with real recovery, keeps easy runs truly easy, and includes strength training, which complements running so well. That's how I've coached my athletes, from 5Ks all the way to the London and Boston marathons. Running improves your health physically, mentally, and emotionally, and I want it to fit into your life for years, not just one race.
There is absolutely no shame in running at a slower pace! You don't have to be fast to be a runner. I run in the middle of the pack, and so do most of my athletes. If you're newer to running (or even if you're not), we can absolutely start with run/walk intervals!! Don't be intimidated. I've helped my athletes get over the hurdles of starting out, and I'll help you too!
