I have raced professionally for 5 years, now riding for Team AG Insurance Soudal. I started cycling at 8, juggling track and road until I was 18, when I represented Australia at two Junior World Championships. I then focused on the road and won the 2019 Australian Road Race Championship and 2020 & 2021 Time Trial Championships. This year brought a win at the Tour Down Under and 7th overall at the Tour de France. I want to pass on my knowledge and experience while continuing my own journey as a pro. My coach has made a huge difference in my life and I'd love to have this impact on other people!
I strongly believe that even for the most dedicated and ambitious athletes, cycling should be fun and our training programs should be sustainable. Of course, there will always be ups and downs, however we do this sport because we love it, and as a coach, I want to foster and maintain your passion. This also nearly always results in increased performance anyway, and being able to continuously strive for your goals.
Similarly, I put emphasis on progression and striving to make your own improvements, rather than focusing only on the outcome. Results are great to aim for as well, but may be affected by variables outside your control.
Finally, I think that the coach-athlete relationship is absolutely crucial. Communication and feedback both ways help the athlete to believe in the process, even when it's difficult, and the coach to ensure the best for the athlete in the short- and long-term.
