I am the owner and coach at KAPE. I hold science degrees from UC Berkeley and Stanford University, and have been working in sports performance for the last decade. I have worked with athletes in a variety of mountain sports with goals from winning races to completing their first 5k. An athlete myself, I have both the scientific training required to coach effectively and objectively, and personal experiences to understand and empathize with athletes I work with. I value continuing education, wholistic, health centered approach, and communication.
I believe that the best performance comes when an athlete is healthy, enjoying the training, and finds meaning in their pursuits - my coaching follows that. I use wholistic approach of programming sport specific sessions and targeted individualized strength training, supported by cross training when needed, fueled with proper nutrition, approached with the right mindset, and allowed to shine with proper recovery. I don't think there is such thing as an ideal training plan, so I foster open and frequent communication with my athletes. That leads to adjustments needed for the plan to become ideal for them, on that particular day. I use metrics as aids but keep subjective feedback at the center. I keep KAPE small - capped at 20 athletes, I make sure everyone gets the attention they need, however that changes through the seasons of competition and life.
