About Knut

I'm a Norwegian based in Malaysia. I have more than 10 years in the sport as an age grouper, where I have completed numerous triathlons including 7 full distance races in Australia, Asia and Europe. I learned to swim at 40, and went from a 15h Ironman to 11:48h in 3 years. I don't think my own finishing times matter as a coach, but I have a very good understanding of how it is to start somewhat slow, what it takes to get faster and how fun it is to see improvement. I also know well how to keep improving the swim pace as an adult onset swimmer, which is maybe my personal proudest achievement.

Coaching Philosophy

Find your balance. To be consistent, training has to feel fun, motivating and rewarding, and there has to be a good balance between ambition, training and life. Being honest with ourselves helps setting the right expectations and objectives, which will guide the training and make consistency a little bit easier. But whatever the objective is, endurance sports as demanding as triathlon will require a lot of hard work, which will be demanding both physically and mentally. Endurance training is all about consistently pushing your body to the limit where you improve the most over time. As a coach, what I can help with is making sure that every second you train, every effort you make, is optimal for the time spent and the goals you seek - giving you the best ROI for the training you do.
