About Cary

In addition to PT and run coach, I am also a runner. I am a 5 time Boston Marathoner and also like to compete in ultra distances up to the 24hr event. I am married to (and coach) an elite ultramarathoner, named Micah Morgan. She has finished 3rd at Badwater, 3rd at Spartathlon, and 8th at the 2019 24hr World Championships in Albi, France. She has top 12 all-time North American performances in both the 24Hr (148.68) and 100 mile (14:44) events. I also have 2 children who are adults and both live in Austin, TX. Outside of running, I enjoy concerts, comedy, and traveling.

Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is a hybrid of so many athletes, coaching mentors and exercise physiologists/scientists. It is also influenced by my own running and coaching experiences. (E Kipchoge, Z. Bitter, N Coury, A Lydiard, J Daniels, R Canova, D Radisha, B Rosario, S Magness, S Bearden, J Koop, D Roche, T Noakes) I keep one eye on the art of running and the other on the science of it. I do believe volume and consistency are the framework of any running success. I also adher to a least specific to more specific focus of any particular distance for which one is training.
I've coached dozens of Boston Qualifiers and send 20-30 qualifiers to Boston each year.
I am aware that my website states I am unable to take additional athletes, but please email me at and I consider each athlete individually. If I am unable to coach you, please consider other coaches on my site
